Wall Flower

I don't know why I'm so drawn to walls

with layers of paint and shabby old posters,

with colors new and old announcing their presence.

Perhaps it's that the wall's story is whispered

through time, a history in which

little glimpses of the past still peek

through to the present in unexpected ways.

Whatever the reason, you can expect to find me
taking pictures of walls.

Does that mean I'm a wall-flower?

(I'm joining Deb for Mexico Monday,
since all these photos were taken
on our recent trip to San Miguel de Allende
and nearby towns. )

It's the evidence of lives lived.

They do tell a story. When you peel off old layers of wallpaper off in an old house, you can imagine the families that have lived there through each layer and era. As the saying goes..."if these walls coud talk".

These walls are marvelous. I'm drawn to them, too. For me, it's their evocativeness. The way the make me wonder and dream. Plus, they are just plain beautiful.
