Share the Joy: Who You Are

Image
I found JOY in this magnificent video made by my friend Jan Phillips. It’s 5 minutes long – 5minutes of pure inspiration. Where did you find JOY? To play along, 1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2. Capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into the Mr. Linky box along with your name. 3. Then click the NEXT box (or the link) to choose an image from the post to hook to Mr. Linky's list so that people are enticed to visit your blog. If you just can't get it to work, send me the info and I'll try to link it for you. 4. Visit other players -- as many as possible -- and let their joy infect you. Leave them a comment, because everyone enJOYS getting positive feedback. Let's start an epidemic of joy!

Advice from a Life Coach

Share the Joy: Bittersweet

I have to admit, I’m feeling JOY mixed with a little loss this week. I’ve finished the last intensive “residency” weekend in my coaching program and I’m thrilled about that but I also just had my last memoir writing class. After sharing important life stories with class members, It’s hard to let that go. JOY can have a bittersweet element. One thing I have to look forward to is starting the e-course MONTAGE with Vivienne McMaster and learning to make kickass videos. How about you? Where’s your JOY?  1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2. Capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into the Mr. Linky box along with your name. 3. Thought-Shifting: Fear

Image
Marianne Williamson, an eminently quotable woman, said: Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.     created by MeriMagic on Polyvore.com Fear can incite paralysis. It can drown your dreams. Like those chattering gremlins in your head (the ones that make you feel worthless or stupid and tell you your idea would never work) fear can make your light flicker. But here's the thing: fear is just a thought. You created it. You can choose to rethink it, to do things differently, to acknowledge the wisdom the fear is concealing and double-check to make sure your foundation is solid. And then LEAP. What would happen if, just for today, you stepped into your power? Acted as if nothing could stop you? Took your dreams serious ly? Stop playing small. Shine your

Oh me, oh my. . . . I’m still on my collage kick. Instead of writing morning pages (which seem redundant since I’m writing  like a fiend anyway in my memoir writing program  at the University of Washington) I’m creating a visual “morning page,” letting my subconscious express itself through image choice. OK, that’s not totally honest. Sometimes I have a little obsessive-compulsive episode and do more than one. It’s not like they’re MEN, after all. A girl’s gotta grab JOY wherever she can. Share the Joy: Reach Out

Let a joy keep you. Collage: Vintage Detail

Some of you are masters of the art journal. Having had an unfortunate experience in elementary school, I’m always uncomfortable drawing “real” things, though doodling is okay. Collage is fine, because that’s design, not drawing. So, I guess what I’m getting at is this: Even though I love looking at your creations, I can’t see myself creating an art journal Unless it’s a record of my “virtual” art journal creations. This one (a deviation from my preference for more abstraction) is called. . . . wait for it. . . . . Vintage Detail. How imaginative! (The title, I mean.)

Postcards from Paradise: Imagination

No journeys hither and yon, pulling myself from a warm bed before the sky hints of light beyond the Cascade range. Not for me, not recently anyway. My travels this week have been soujourns to the imagination. Postcards fromParadise

Leaving Joy Behind When We Go

Image
There are souls in this world which have the gift of finding joy everywhere and of leaving it behind them when they go. -    Jean Paul Richter (1763 - 1825) "Moon Maiden" - one of my Polyvore creations (Polyvore.com/MeriMagic) I want to be one of those souls. I’m cultivating JOY every time I create a new image. How are you cultivating JOY?    1. do a post that tells and shows us  what gives you joy. 2.
