Do You Believe in Magic?

There are magical moments
when the elements combine perfectly,
the color of the sky,
the merest puff of wind,
the tide at just the right place
in its cycles of ebb and flow.

There is a pier
jutting out over the shore that is often submerged,
reaching out beyond the land and over the water,
creating a bridge to a place of magic.

There is a marina
with wind and diesel-powered pleasure craft
that dance lightly in their moorings,
supported by water reflecting their image like a mirror.

Above all, there is a pure white light
with just a touch of golden sparkle.

Camera paintings are born.

Light glorifies everything. It transforms
and ennobles the most commonplace and ordinary subjects.
The object is nothing; light is everything.

- Leonard Missone

I am alight with magic.

Hi Meri,
I clicked onto your blog to find out how to vote for Delwyn's blog, A Hazy Moon, as you suggested. It is always new, exquisite, thoughtful. Then I also saw your blog--it is vital and alive, too. Now I'm excited about the idea of camera painting. Yours were beautiful, both the pictures and the painting. I love the combination of colors in the first and the elegiac feeling evoked in the second. Let me know and I'll send both your blogs in! Thanks, Margaret

Thanks, Margaret. I'll put the Blog of Note Nominations steps on Delwyn's blog and also here.

For anyone who wants to know how to nominate a blog of note, go to
www.blogger.com.

At the very bottom of the page, click the tiny little link called BUZZ.

From there, go to the "Democratic voting for blogs of note" paragraph and click on the first link.

That takes you to a page with a sidebar that says SUGGEST A BLOG OF NOTE. Click on that link and you can make your suggestion.

One more thing -- every image posted on Do You Believe in Magic was a color photograph of light and shadows on water. My paintbrushes haven't been used in six months -- the camera, the water and the light did all the painting. I bumped up the saturation to intensify the color and bumped up the gamma in the exposure options, but otherwise they're just photographs that turn out looking like abstract paintings. I was thrilled when I looked at them. There are many more -- the bottom two images were just a sampling.

Meri - these photographs, dreamy blues and greens, really are magical.

I love it that you would look up my ancestor! What a generously questing mind you have . . .
xx, Bee

i love the second photo you have here.
Hi Meri,
Your voting instructions were excellent. However, I did a search on your nominations, checked yes, and it came up "Voting is closed." Is that possible? Does it start up again?
P.S.: I love the gamma idea! Thanks!
