Waxing ARTfully

Had fun this weekend in Judy Wise's
wonderful studio

playing with wax and color,
seeing other women create,
sharing food and conversation.

All in an atmosphere of

what if?

I think I'll try this. . .

oh my gosh. . . I love what you did!

I'd played with wax before
under Judy's tutelage, in an encaustic collage class.

This time I learned a few more techniques

and got good at transfers.

Loved torching amber shellac.

Loved digging into the heart of things.

Now I'm all abuzz about the possibilities with wax.

Who knew?

That's wonderful, I saw you in Judy's post. These pieces are fabulous and I can see you may be onto something here. I'm just starting to dabble in wax myself. A good sampling of techniques too
Beautiful!

it's fun, isn't it? not that particular technique so much as the experience. taking a workshop and playing with possibilities, sharing ideas and victuals.

so cool. also saw you on Judy's post today. sounded just wonderful. took an encaustic class from patricia seggrebruch last year at AF and had the itch but still want for more. transfers and freedom to create sounds lovely. took a wabi sabi paper class with the amazing miss wise at Squam in September. We are neighbors and I would love to get together to chat about all things creativity sometime!

That last piece is sublime. Funny thing, I also spent last weekend learning about encaustic. It looks like there are many more techniques and approaches to explore.

Wow Meri I had no idea you could do all this with wax, I just think candles! I think what you made is lovely.
Meri, It sure was great to spend the weekend with you in Judy's studio playing with wax. I loved the pieces you created. I hope our paths cross again.
It looks like you had such fun in Judy's class! The art work created is beautiful.
Great work meri! I saw you in Judy's post and thought, mmhmm, meri's work + wax makes perfect sense. :)
