That is a truly beautiful photograph . . . but the idea of being "fully in flower" bothers me a bit. (Next step: petals dropping off.) Maybe I should think of it as a constant renewal?

Steven: I love the ranunculus as a close-up subject. They're so layered and nuanced. I took several closeups at a garden nursery yesterday.

We are potting ranunculus as soon as I am free from the devil in the angel food cake, you are right.
Both Barry and I are sick as the proverbial dog - did anyone really know what the proverbial dog was sick with or even if in fact it was sick? but I digress.

As usual, your photos are magnificent and I am looking forward to enjoy the real thing hopefully as much as this one. I always love ranunculus, like little tight peonies, aren't they and with that tissue paper petals to boot.
