Share the Joy

I have been reflecting on joy this week,
amidst the sorrowful happenings

the cowardly act of terrorism
in Boston, of course

the death of friend's husband
from a massive heart attack
(he was a mover and shaker in the community
and one of the nicest, most grounded guys around)

Those kinds of occurrences can make joy seem
out of reach.

On the other hand,
those kinds of occurrences
are an invitation for us to cultivate joy,
to notice and appreciate those precious moments
when everything seems right with the world,
when children say or do something amazing,
when love -- old or new -- seems bright and shiny,
when something touches our heart
in ways large or small.

By noticing,
by appreciating,
we anchor those moments of joy in our heart
and allow them to remind us there is hope
even in our moments of greatest darkness
and challenge.

For sure all in our country had a saddened heart but know that God has joined us all in a hug of compassion and we and the city of Boston will carry on, because we have each other.

beautifully expressed Merri. I'm so sorry about your friend's husband. And wow, Boston... so horrible, we live only an hour away and have family and friends in the city... all safe, but shaken. Such needless tragedy.

agreed :( it seems heartless at first to be happy, but I think you're right- we have to look at the good in order to outweigh the bad.

It would be so easy to dispair, to let the darkness over take, but that is not our Soul's mission, is it ? Let us continue to bring light, share love and celebrate the joy, no matter how small. Then we are doing our real work.
Sending light love and sparkly joy to you, Beautiful Meri.
