Share the Joy: Simple Pleasures

It's truly simple things that bring us joy.

The warm pleasure of a foamy cup of chai latte
sipped from a favorite cup.

A novel on my Kindle....
most recently
Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague
by Geraldine Brooks
(I know - a cheery subject, right?)

The sun streaming through freshly cleaned windows
on a weekday morning.

Walking in the yard of my new house
and beginning to put my imprint
on the garden in ways large and small.

My landscape guru installed the beautiful fountain
I treated myself to,
but I haven't yet taken a pic of it.
It's sitting in the front porch garden
opposite the front door
to create a sense of peace
in all who enter.

Then we added some ferns around the base
and mulched the area.

We also added some colorful grasses
and Heavenly Bamboo shrubs
in strategic locations.

I'm taking joy in learning about
deer resistant planting
while reminding myself
that it's not always fool-proof
and deer need to eat, too.
There's a local doe with two fawns
who've lost their spots.
They stroll around the neighborhood,
visiting various garden salad bars,
then bound back into the woods
behind my house.

I'm longing to nest in this new house,
the one my son is house-sitting
and I visit several times a week
to chat with my cats
and put away things in boxes.

(and no, the old house hasn't sold yet. . .
keep sending your prayers and positive vibes for
a speedy sale to the perfect buyer
so I can pack up my furniture and move)

What sparked the fire of joy in you this week?

Notice joy.
Cultivate it.
Celebrate it.
Share it.

Bury a statue of St. Joseph upside down in the back yard. LOL Old wives tale. So happy for your new home. Can't wait to see photo of the fountain.
