Share the Joy: Favorites

Yesterday, I spent some time leafing through my digi photo collection, looking for Uncommon Shapes , the 52 Photos Project theme for this week. As I reviewed various photo collections,  I found that every photo is linked to memories. . . of fun, of exploration,  of just  slowing down to notice appreciate the beauty all around me to refill my well. Hmmm. . .   those are all components of  cultivating joy. What a coincidence! How are you cultivating joy? Share your wins, your misty-eyed moments, your ear-to-ear grins. Where do you find JOY? Share the Joy Thursday

Joy isn't always announced by the blaring of trumpets. Sometimes it's heralded by chalk dust and shouts of, "Look, Daddy!" It might rush in like waves to the sand, making you jump for joy because you love your family and life itself so much. Sometimes you find delight in a mug of latte because the barista created a little heart on top with caramel and the "extra-foamy" you asked for. One day I found it at the bottom of a bowl of mushroom soup and took it as a sign my true love was on his way. And if you're like me, even something as simple as red chairs can fill you with joy. Just the way they're lined up so neatly, gathered like friends, and saying, " Come join us!" We'd love to have you join us for Share the Joy Thursday this week.  To play along: 1. do a post that tells and shows us what gives you joy. 2. capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into the Mr. Linky box along with your name. 3. visit...

Share the Joy Thursdays: Joy Movement

Image
As you can see, I posted about JOY today. I think there's a lot of joy in everyday living but often we don't pay attention to it because we mistakenly believe those moments are too small or insignificant to count. I think that as we become more mindful about joyful experiences or feelings, we increase our quality of life. By sharing things that make our hearts full of delight, we remind others to look for joy in their lives. Some things that give me JOY dancing with abandon seeing people enjoy themselves people who are obviously in love sunflowers and coreopsis smiling faces If you look, you'll surely find it. Some of you said if I built it, you would come. So spread your joy around the blog world, one experience and photo at a time or many. Whatever moves you! Here's how to play: 1. find a photo that captures a moment of joy 2. write about it (or let the picture speak for itself) 3. leave me a comment if you choose 4. enter your name and link to you...

Moments of Joy

Image
Yesterday I went to a meeting where the first agenda item was for everyone to relate a moment of joy they'd experienced since the committee had last gathered. Only one? We last met two months ago! How can I cast out all the moments of joy to focus on only one? Here are just a few moments of joy in the last few weeks. Watching Logan play at the Zoo. Playing with blog friends Rebecca Deb  and Steph on a most magical sojourn to Mexico. The beat of the drums fueling the dance Celebrating my paternal and maternal grandparents, my mother-in-law,  and Shadow (my cat who died in January)  and Latté (my bichon friesé who died in June) on the Day of the Dead altar in San Miguel and inviting their spirits to  be with me. In my world view, the more you focus on joy, the more joy you experience. If I started a meme on JOY, would you play along one day a week? What day would be best? Not Friday. Friday's for haiku. Is there a day of the week you'd like to focus on joy?...
