Bloom

I've been doing some work in the area of intention setting in my life, revisiting old core beliefs to see how they've tripped me up and whether they're even remotely applicable to the adult, capable me. In other words,  I'm working on fully Blooming in every part of my life. How are you using your power to create a more juicy life? It's up to you to make it happen. * * * * * * * p.s. The Shrine Auction to benefit the education of street kids in Oaxaca is open for online bidding. Generous artists all over Bloglandia have contributed heart works. Go to the  HOPE GALLERY  for a preview and to bid. Thanks Rebecca for being the light!

Get Schooled

Sometimes when I'm out and about I find the most intriguing messages in the most unexpected places, like in this advertising poster hanging in the window of the University Bookstore. When I saw it, my reaction was: "Isn't that why we're here?" Don't we all need to be schooled in the things that matter? love compassion kindness coming to terms with loss & change meaning What else goes on the list? 1. Beth's addition: patience 2. Delwyn's additions: slowing down, letting go, knowing that we will never know, understanding that life is chaos but in chaos we can reach a certain level of security.

Sometimes Things Aren't What They Seem

Image
Sometimes things aren't what they seem. We settle in somewhere, thinking it's going to be safe and hospitable and just what we hoped for, a magical haven that provides us shelter from harm. Then reality sets in and we realize that we were mistaken. That soft place to land turns out to be quite a bit less soft than we'd anticipated. In fact sometimes things get downright hard and cold and unforgiving. Not at all what we expected. Do we stay and make the best of it or fly away to build a new nest somewhere else? Sometimes the most valuable lessons come from learning to see the beauty right in front of your eyes. Sometimes we bloom most gloriously when we learn to thrive just where we are and come to love just what we have. Maybe each of us is exactly where we need to be, learning lessons custom-made for us.

Dancing With Change

Image
Sometimes you think you know exactly where you're headed. You've got a plan, a map. Everything's under control. There is no room for surprise in your neatly ordered life. Everything is altered in the blink of an eye. And ready or not, you're dancing with change.

Dancing with Inevitable Change

In the desert, change is nurtured even in stone by wind, by water, through time. - Terry Tempest Williams Mother Nature has her way with the landscape. Whether water trickles in measured drops or comes in torrents, eventually it carves changes into stone, in the outlines of seacoasts, in the course of a river. Wind can level cities, form delicate arches in layers of rock, and create beautiful ripples in the sand. The power of one of the earth's plates ramming itself under another can create mountains where none existed. Massive forces building inside a volcano eventually find release, whether in swarms of earthquakes, expulsion of gases and steam, pyroclastic flows,  or outright  explosion. Change happens, whether in infinitesimally small increments or cataclysmic shifts, whether or not we like it. Photo copyright 2006 - Trevor Ducken a/k/a TREVERI Used with permission. And so it is with us.  With the passage of time, we change.  We grow o...
