True Words Tuesday: Look Ahead

Image
While we might look a whole lot wiser if  we could live life backward, life just doesn't work that way. If you're always looking backwards, you're gonna bump into a lot of walls. You're gonna pass Mr. Right and never see his face. You're gonna watch your world get smaller while you're facing away from the universe of possibilities. Love what is. Dream big. Yes, you can.

Share the Joy: Joy and Frustration

I thought I'd have a photo of me  with Brené Brown to share this morning, but I'm still waiting for the camera pics to show up in my e-mailbox. Brené Brown's talk on Daring Greatly gave me great joy - she's warm, funny, grounded, and one of the world's best story tellers. Plus I happen to agree with her about vulnerability down to "If you don't do vulnerability,  then vulnerability's going to do you." If you haven't discovered her yet, you're missing out. You can remedy that by watching here What I don't enJOY are the vagaries of sending camera pics and wondering where in heck they went. p.s. Found the ones I thought I'd sent from my gmail account sitting unsent in my drafts file even though I clicked the send icon. The ones I sent via my Yahoo mail took over an hour to finally materialize. What's THAT about? I thought the internet was all about instant gratificati...

Share the Joy

On the other hand,  those kinds of occurrences are an invitation for us to cultivate joy, to notice and appreciate those precious moments when everything seems right with the world, when children say or do something amazing, when love -- old or new -- seems bright and shiny, when something touches our heart in ways large or small. By noticing, by appreciating, we anchor those moments of joy in our heart and allow them to remind us there is hope even in our moments of greatest darkness and challenge. Reasons for JOY:  I'm signed up to go to San Miguel Allende for a week of art with Judy Wise,  Katie Kendrick, and Stephanie Lee -- and (perhaps even more importantly) to commune with Rebecca and Deb. the incomparable Deb Taylor SMA is a place awash with color ritual, and images of Our Lady. And -- the other reason for joy is that it's mid-April and I'm not hosting the third annual bout of bronchitis that I experienced the last two years. Yippee! What's your point of joy? Share the Joy. 1. do a post that tells and shows what gives you joy. 2. capture the URL of the specific post and paste it into  the Mr. Linky box along with your info. 3. Visit other players and let their joy infect you. Leave them a comment because everyone  enJOYS getting positive feedback. Let's keep the epidemic of JOY going!
