Share the Joy: Abundance

Please forgive me. Holiday weekends
mess with my mind
and I'm convinced it's still Wednesday
so I'm late posting.

I have to admit that lately,
with all the getting-the-house-ready-to-sell
and trying-to-make-the-new-house-mine-
even-though-I'm-not-living-there-yet,
I've lost touch with some of the things I love most.
I'm not writing.
I don't keep a camera close by.

So the road trip I mentioned last week was a joyous blessing.
I drove to the eastern part of the state --
Pullman specifically --
home of Washington State University,
where I started my higher education.

There was some material in the university's manuscript collection
that pertained to my mother's family's trip by wagon train
to Washington Territory in 1862 that I wanted to peruse.

Once that was done, I meandered about the two-lane highways
and dusty lanes with a map of photo ops.

It's farming country, as you can see.

Some farms -- wheat ranches, often --
are prosperous
but other farms and homesteads are abandoned.

It was magical to come around a corner and see something
I wanted to capture through the lens.

It reminded me that my abundance lies in my joy
and I do myself a disservice
if I don't do what I love every day.

Share the Joy: Holiday!

I'm away on a road trip -- woo hoo!

Nothing so divine as this

or this

but a chance to

I'm actually heading to the library at Washington State University
where the manuscripts collection holds journals from my family's
trip by wagon train to eastern Washington in 1859.

I've been wanting to do this since I learned of the treasure trove,
so I'm overjoyed with anticipation.

Share the Joy: Home Stretch

Did you notice I was missing in action last week?

The painters needed my input on putting furniture back in place
in the rooms they had completed
so they could paint the rooms
that had been reserved for furniture storage.
And the dust. . . . . . . oh my!
Did I mention that I don't have a computer
in the house that's almost ready for sale?

Now, with the exception of the toilet area in the master bath,
which will be put back together today and tomorrow,
everything looks splendid.

The photographer came and took interior photos a couple of days ago
and will photograph the exterior tomorrow
when the sun shines,
and it'll be on MLS on Tuesday.

So next week, I'll link the sales site to Share the Joy
so you can see what I've been up to for about a month.
It's all fancied up !

So I took a field trip with a friend yesterday
(sans camera, unfortunately)
so she could show me some of her favorite shops
in Seattle
and we ended up at Daniel's Broiler on Lake Union
for happy hour on the deck overlooking a marina
and watched the crew teams and float planes.
